AKBP Lalu Iwan dan Brigjen TNI Subagyo sama-sama menginap di hotel Atrium Cilacap pada 3 Juni 2019 lalu. Lalu Iwan yang salah menaruh HP di meja makan, menuduh Brigjen Subagyo dan keluarganya mencuri HP Iphone miliknya. Tuduhan itu membuat Brigjen Subagyo emosi. Akibatnya, suasana di hotel Atrium sempat memanas. Prajurit TNI bersenjata lengkap langsung mengepung Hotel Atrium. Akibatnya, Lalu Iwan tertahan selama 9 jam di dalam hotel. Hal itu membuat Komandan Kodim 0703 dan Kapolres Cilacap harus turun tangan. Dandim dan Kapolres membujuk Lalu Iwan untuk meminta maaf secara lisan dan membuat surat pernyataan di atas kertas bermaterai Dandim dan Kapolres Cilacap kemudian mempertemukan Lalu Iwan dan Brigjen TNI Subagyo untuk berdamai. Setelah selesai menandatangani surat pernyataan, AKBP Lalu Iwan bersalaman dan meminta maaf kepada Brigjen TNI Subagyo. Selanjutnya, Subagyo bersama anggota keluarganya yang berjumlah 7 orang meninggalkan Hotel Atrium menuju Banjarnegara. Dalam surat pernyataan yang diteken AKBP Lalu Iwan, ia mengaku salah menuduh Direktur Peralatan TNI AD, Brigjen Subagyo dan keluarganya mencuri HP merek Iphone miliknya. Ia juga meminta maaf lantaran sempat menahan dan menggeledah saku dan tas milik keluarga Subagyo. Padahal, iphone miliknya tidak diambil oleh keluarga Subagyo, melainkan tertinggal di meja makan. Ia mengaku salah menaruh HP hingga menduga dicuri oleh keluarga Subagyo. “Atas kejadian kesalahpahaman tersebut di atas, saya atas nama pribadi dari lubuk hati yang paling dalam menyampaikan permohonan maaf yang sebesar-besarnya kepada Brigjen TNI Subagyo dan keluarga,” kata AKBP Lalu Iwan dalam surat pernyataan yang ditandatanganinya.
